What reviewers are saying...

Steve Haggard's “There’s an Elephant in my Room!” is a colourful, exciting, and humorous book that follows the adventure of a girl who discovers an Elephant in her room. The pages flow by in a smooth rhyme like classic poetry. The lines are not crowded, neither are the sentences too long. Also, each page is wonderfully illustrated, making the whole book look like an art gallery of beautiful paintings. Nicole, the main character, forgets to put her room in order during clean-up time and the room is, thus, in a mess. However, as soon as she is tucked in for the night, out of the messy room comes the Elephant with its lengthy trunk. I love her innocent and lovely imagination – she plans to play and swim with the Elephant all day. She also plans to add the Elephant to her group of friends. Surely her friends would all love to play with an Elephant! ... The book took me back to my childhood, a time where my imagination was unlimited and all I looked forward to was an adventure. The suspense in the book is immense – does the Elephant only exist in her imagination? Is it just a dream? I loved the silly ending, too, which I will not give away. This is a great book for anyone who wants to buy a gift for a child between the ages of 2 and 7. It is a good read-aloud book with wonderful illustrations. I already know this will be a favourite for many parents, grandparents, teachers, and librarians. This book is simply a must-read for all children!

This book is wonderful for younger readers. It is a challenging read for less confident readers but is still enjoyable for confident readers because of the rhyming aspect.  The illustrations are beautiful and vibrant which helps tell the story perfectly and keeps readers engaged. The font is easy to read and stands out on the page.  The story is fun and exciting while still giving a message to its readers about tidying your room. There is room for imagination and conversation. It is perfect for a bedtime story.
